Day 21 - October 5th

We actually stopped at the Four Corners on the evening of the 4th

The four corners monument is where you can be in four different states at one time
It's a tourist trap for sure, but something fun to do.
On the 5th we went to Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado

This is the spruce tree house cliff dwelling

This is the view from above. It is amazing how this houses were built into the side of cliffs.

Isaac and I bought tickets to go on a ranger guided tour to see Balcony House. It was built in the 900's and lived in until the 1200's.

To get into Balcony House we had to climb this 32 foot steep ladder. ehh...

There were over 30 rooms in the dwelling.

We learned a lot about the people that once lived there. To get out of Balcony House we had to climb through this little tunnel then up some more ladders.

We left Mesa Verde and went down into New Mexico to see the Aztec Ruins Monument.

The Aztec's didn't live there. Again it was named by someone who just assumed that it was occupied by the Aztec people. We weren't too impressed with the monument. Not because the structures weren't awesome but because the park service was there rebuilding the ruins to recreate it. The museum and the artifacts they had at the monument were very interesting.
Tuesday night we stayed with Allison, Chad and their kids. It was great to stop, relax and just catch up with them. We stayed a little later on Wednesday morning so Isaac could play transformers with the kids!
