Day 42 - October 26th

After leaving Texas we made our way to New Orleans. It was very interesting to drive over these long bridges that connected land and see how high the water table was.

We drove downtown to see Bourbon Street.

We stopped and ate po-boy's (subs) in an outdoor restaurant with a live band.

We only walked around for a short time. The city was very crowded and hot.

We also walked over to see the Mississippi River which is huge in Louisiana compared to where it starts in Minnesota.

Before arriving in New Orleans Isaac and I decided it was time to cut our trip a little short and head home. My grandma was in the hospital and we knew that it was important to make our way home to spend time with her. We planned on driving from New Orleans straight to New Jersey but some bad weather in Alabama stopped us for the night (well it stopped me, and Isaac had to stop too). We were able to spend the night with the Nunnelly's again, and started driving early the next day. We are so glad we made it home in time to spend a little time with my Grandma.
We have been home for about a month now and are getting settled. I'm searching for a full time job and Isaac is registered to start school in January. For now we are both working part time and are really enjoying spending time with our families and friends.

Day 41 - October 25th

After camping in Amarillo Texas we drove to Cadillac Ranch in Texas.

There is just a line of Cadillac's stuck in the ground. It was pretty cool but it was SUPER windy there (look at my hair!)

Next we drove to Dallas Texas. We decided to stop and see the Grassy Knoll on Elm Street where President Kennedy was shot. There was a very nice memorial and a museum there.

We didn't go into the museum but this is it and the memorial is to the left.
After spending some time in Dallas we drove to a suburb where we had dinner with one of Isaac's friends from the Navy. Isaac and Broom had a good time catching up on post- Navy life.

Day 40 - October 24th

We left Mike and Lydia's Sunday morning and started a long day of driving! We stopped at Midpoint USA which is a sign stating that we were exactly 1561 miles from New York and 1561 miles from San Francisco.

Then we drove to Texas where we saw a giant steel cross and statues of the Stations of the Cross.

Day 37, 38, 39 - October 21st, 22nd, and 23rd

We left Oklahoma and went to see Mike and Lydia in Kansas! We spent the whole weekend with them hanging out and having fun.

Isaac hadn't seen Mike in almost a year and a half so they had a lot of catching up to do. I had fun hanging out with Lydia while Isaac and Mike went shooting.

They spent the day shooting targets, fruit, cans and golf balls. Then Lydia's dad had some friends over so the boys could have a poker night.

Lydia and I went to her old high school and watched the girls volleyball team play. It was a tournament to see who would go to states, and Lydia's team won!! We had a lot of fun seeing Mike and Lydia and can't wait for them to come home for Christmas!

Day 36 - October 20th

When we planned out our cross country trip our intention was to see something in every state. When researching Arkansas we couldn't find much so I thought it would be fun to go to Fayetteville and see Bill and Hillary's first house.

It was nice to see Hillary just hanging out.

The Clintons got married in the living room of the house.

After leaving Arkansas we drove into Oklahoma to see a Totem Pole Park.

It was pretty run down and was located in someone's side yard.

Oklahoma, like Arkansas didn't have much to see. Our next stop was to see this giant blue whale.

It was so great to stop and spend the night with friends! We miss you!

Day 35 - October 19th

After leaving Memphis we took a turn back west and drove to Metropolis,  The Home of Superman

We drove a couple of hours and didn't see a thing then all of a sudden we were in Superman's home town. The town had a Superman Museum and gift store.

Right in front of their town hall was this big statue.

After leaving Metropolis we started to make our way to St. Louis.  First we had to stop and take a picture with this large water tower that was shaped like a ketchup bottle.

We made it to St. Louis and started walking to the Gateway Arch.

It was so big we couldn't even take a picture of it.

To ride to the top of arch we has to smush into this little cart. The ride took about four minutes to get to the top and three minutes to get back to the ground.

The view from the top was great. You were able to see the whole city.

We left St. Louis to drive to Springfield MO. We got there earlier then we thought so we went to see the original Bass Pro Shop (Pro Bass Shop as I like to call it)

Isaac felt right at home, and loved walking around the store.

I didn't have the same reaction as Isaac. It wasn't my favorite stop on our trip.

The store itself was nice, but there were dead animals everywhere!  yuck.

Day 34 - October 18th

The next morning we left Alabama and headed to Memphis Tennessee!

We had a great time touring the city with our friend Brannon and her son Sam. They were great hosts and we had so much fun with them!

The brought us on a trolley ride that took us all around the city.

Then we headed into the Peabody hotel to see the ducks

The ducks had already left the fountain for the day and were in their roof palace. We got to the roof just in time to see the sunset!

There are five ducks that leave their duck palace every morning and take the elevator down to the lobby of the hotel. Then they parade to the fountain where they hang out until the end of the day.

Day 33 - October 17th

After having lunch with friends we drove to Anniston Alabama to see the World's Largest Chair. It was not as exciting as you would think.

On our way to Maggie's house we stopped by Janney Furnace. It was built during the Civil War and is the largest Confederate Memorial.

We spent the night with our friend Maggie's parents. They made us a great dinner (with sweet tea!) they were so welcoming and we felt right at home!
