Day 2 - September 16th

We left Katie's early in the morning on the 16th (I made her promise to come home for Christmas) to head up to Yosemite. We decided to take the 1 and the 101 all the way up the coast for a scenic drive. It was foggy in the morning but as soon as the fog cleared it was gorgeous! 

We stopped at the Santa Monica Pier to get this picture of the End of Route 66

We stopped early in the afternoon to have some lunch with a beautiful view. Unfortunately it was short lived. As soon as I got out of the car these little chipmunk/squirrel things decided to join us. I made Isaac drive a little further before eating. (Isaac suggests that everyone download this picture and zoom in on my face to see my fear of those little guys)

Up the road a little further there was an elephant seal viewing area. There were a few seals in the water but most were relaxing on the sand behind us. 

As the day went on we drove further and further up the cliffs and the views of the ocean were beautiful. There were look out points all throughout the road and we stopped at some to get some pictures. 

Our drive ended as we arrived at our campsite near Yosemite.  It took longer then we thought to drive up the coast so we arrived to the campsite in the dark. I cooked some dinner and Isaac set up the tent. This was the sunset we saw as we were driving into the Yosemite area.
